Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), “the Home of Motorsport in the Middle East,” is all set to host an exciting Open Track Day today, at its world-class site in Sakhir. Open Track Day has remained a mainstay on the circuit’s spectrum of offerings and motorsport fans have returned time and again to be a part of the fun-filled action on track. The highly popular activity gives fans the chance of a lifetime – the opportunity to take to the same racetrack that their favourite Formula One drivers compete on. The event is open to both car, and bike, owners who want to push their vehicles to their limits on BIC’s world-renowned Grand Prix track. Open Track Day is available as either a full-day or a half-day activity. A full-day’s activity costs BD85 and lasts from 9am to 4pm. The half-day option offersa choice between two sessions –where the first takes place from 9am to 12pm, while the second lasts from 1pm to 4pm. Each half-day session costs BD60. A number of fun sideline activities will also feature at today’s Open Track Day, including the Caterham passenger ride. The adrenaline-charged ride takes passengers on a trip in an ultra-lightweight 160bhp Caterham race car around the world-famous BIC Grand Prix track. The Caterham passenger ride costs BD12 per person. Another great experience that features today is BIC’s Land Rover LR4 4x4 Passenger Ride. The rugged off-road ride stretches over a 5.3km course of unruly desert terrain complete with nearly 30 heart-stopping obstacles. Visitors will pay BD12 for the 4x4 Passenger Ride. Mandatory inspections will precede the activity to ensure that vehicles are fit to participate. Participants must attend a safety briefing, conducted by BIC’s qualified professional driving instructors, highlighting various aspects about the activity, including safety, driving rules and techniques, circuit information, and how to handle emergency situations. Participants must have a valid driving licence that has been issued for at least a year. It must be presented to officials during registration. Participants must also follow a strict dress code prohibiting them from wearing shorts or open-toed footwear during the event. Helmets will be provided on site and must be worn at all times throughout the activity.
