The Algerian national defender Madjid Bouguerra said that he was “confident” but “careful” following the draw of the African Football Cup of Nations (CAN 2015) which put Algeria in Group C along with Ghana, South Africa and Senegal.
“It is a difficult group, as all observers have noted,” Bouguerra told the specialized website Dzfoot, adding that Ghana, one of the best teams in Africa, “has always reached the last four for years, Senegal with a new team that grew in strength and South Africa which ranked first in the group stage.”
“Personally, I trust our team. We have shown it over the past months. Now, we must be very careful, we are under the spotlight, everybody knows us, and all the teams that we will play against are even more focused and motivated to win against us,” he added.
For the Desert Foxes’ captain, who is about to play his second African Cup after that of 2010, the CAN is a very “special” competition.
According to Bouguerra, in order to make a successful tournament in Equatorial Guinea, the Desert foxes must play this competition with a mind of steel.
