Under the directives of Bahrain Royal Endurance Team Leader, the Bahrain Royal Endurance team will participate in the Saeed bin Hamdan Endurance Challenge, to be held today 7am at Seeh Al Salam in Dubai International Endurance City.
The ride is being held under the patronage of Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum
The race is considered the first tournament of the two stars category organised by the Dubai Equestrian Club and under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation in the 2014-2015 season.
This race is allocated for horses aged six years and above. All participants will compete across four stages in the fields of Dubai International Endurance City for distances 40km, 30km, 30km and 20km respectively, and the competition begins at 7am with more than 300 riders will compete in this event.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad will be attending the race, and the Bahrain Royal Endurance team riders who will compete in the race are Mohammed Al Thawadi, Abdulrahman Al Saad, Abdulrahman Al Zayed and Salman Isa.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad expressed his happiness with the participation of the Bahrain Royal Endurance team in this great sporting event which includes a fine selection of outstanding endurance riders. He stressed that the participation of Bahrain’s four riders aims to contribute to the success of the race and to identify the levels of participation in upcoming international competitions, which hopefully contribute to give the Bahraini riders more experience in the endurance sport.
He said: "We are keen on participating in this race to contribute to its success alongside our brothers in UAE and other participating countries. The presence of our riders in Saeed bin Hamdan's endurance challenge came to give them a chance to gain experiences with the UAE riders."
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad pointed out that the challenge will be strong and tough in the presence of a group of prominent riders and endurance horses for a long distance of 120km. He stressed that these distances need special horses, as well as proper plans and strategies to deal with long races that contribute to the distribution of the horse’s effort at all stages.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad said that the race is one of the strongest and most important in UAE, with a wide participation of UAE, GCC and some Arab riders. He added that this year's championship will be strong due to the volume of participation, stressing that such a large presence would have a positive impact on the Bahrain Royal Team riders in this important sporting event.
He expressed his confidence for his team’s riders in achieving a positive result in this race, based on their experience between Bahrain’s and Dubai’s races, and he wished the riders all success.
A veterinary examination
The veterinary examination was conducted yesterday at the race course, and the organising committee of the race finalized all the administrative and organisational procedures, according to the International Endurance Federation laws and regulations.
