His Majesty the King's Charity and Youth Affairs Representative, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, along with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports First Deputy Chairman and Bahrain Athletics Association President Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, attended the Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Endurance Festival’s 100km ride, which was held yesterday at the Dubai International Endurance City.
The Bahrain Royal Endurance team participated in the race with two riders: Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who had withdrawn from the third stage of the race, and Raed Mahmoud who had withdrawn as well from the fourth stage.
The Dubai Crown Prince Endurance Festival will conclude today with the Bahrain Royal Team participating in a 120km ride, which has been divided into four stages.
The first and second stages will run for 40km each, while the third and fourth stages will run for 20km each. The Bahrain Royal Team members who will compete in today’s race are Jaffar Merza, Salman Isa, Ali Bu Safar, Raed Mahmoud, Yagood Al Hammadi and Abdulrahman Al Zayed.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad expressed his happiness with the participation of the Bahrain Royal Team in this great sports assembly which includes a selection of some outstanding endurance riders, stressing that their participation is aimed at the success of the event and to identify the levels of the team's riders prior to participating in upcoming foreign rides. Further, these contribute to giving the riders more experience in the sport.
He said that the competition will be strong and tough with the presence of a group of prominent horsemen and horses specialised in the long-distance races. He stressed that these distances need special horses, as well as plans and strategies to deal with the length.
Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad said that the race is one of the most powerful in the UAE and it is witnessing a wide participation from other Emirati riders alon with others from the GCC and some Arab countries
He pointed out that this year's championship will be strong, also due to the volume of participation of groups of prominent riders who will contribute in enriching the race in all respects, stressing that such a large presence would have a positive impact on the Bahrain Royal Team in this important sporting event. He expressed his confidence in the Bahrain Royal Team to achieve a positive result in this race.
