Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the SCYS first Deputy Chairman and the Bahrain Athletics Association President Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa will lead the Bahraini team at the Hungarian Ironman Championship that will start here tomorrow, with the participation of over 3,000 athletes.
The championship consists of three events, where all participants will swim for 1.9km in the Danube River, followed by 90km cycling through the capital Budapest, and ending with a 21.1km run to the finish line.
Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid, along with the members of the team, have finalised preparations and procedures for the championship.
They led the training sessions for the Bahraini team to get set for the championship in which top athletes from all over the world will take part.
Shaikh Nasser met team members and urged them to spare no effort and finish the contest in the best way in order to bring about a more landmark achievement for the kingdom after that attained in the Philippines.
He expressed satisfaction at the Bahraini team’s preparedness for the competition, noting that the stage is set for the national 24 athletes to succeed.
Shaikh Khalid pointed out that the team had reached the best levels thanks to the efforts of Shaikh Nasser and the athletes’ resolve to reach the podium of the championship.
He said that the competition would be easy amid the participation of top world athletes, noting that members of the Bahraini team are determined to overcome all challenges and achieve honourable results.
