The Bahrain National Athletics Team departed today to the sisterly United Arab Emirates (UAE) to partake at the 2nd West Asian General Athletics Games due to be conducted during the period 12-15 December 2012. The Bahraini delegation was led member of the Bahrain Athletics Association and head of the Committee for Gifted Athletes, Ruqaya Al-Ghasrah. The participation of the Bahrain National Athletics Team comes in response to an invitation extended by the United Arab Emirates in order to bolster bilateral cooperation bonds between the two brotherly countries. Although the Bahraini Association is very busy with preparations for other major championships, it decided to symbolically partake in this event. On the sidelines of this championship, a meeting will be convened by specialized committees from the West Asia Athletics Federation, namely the technical committee led by 'Alaa Jabir (from Iraq), Women's committee led by Ahmed Al-Riffai'e (from Syria) and the Media committee led by Nasser Al-Ma'mari (from the UAE). The meeting introduces members and consolidating relations amongst these committees and also with the Arab Journalists Federation in order to conduct a two-day training course for media specialists who will cover the games.
