Bahrain and Kuwait top the table in the fourth GCC Under-15 Basketball Championship following last night's victories over Qatar and Saudi Arabia respectively at the Bahrain Basketball Association Sports Hall in Um Al Hassam, GDN reported.
Hosts and defending champions Bahrain defeated Qatar 80-41 in an one-sided game. Bahrain thoroughly dominated the proceedings with excellent team work and exceptional shooting from all corners of the court.
Bahrain were far superior in the first three quarters - 24-17 (Bahrain), 17-3 (Bahrain), 27-5 (Bahrain), 16-12 (Qatar).
Bahrain's main scorers were Fadhel Abdulelah (14 points) and Mohammed Salah (12) while Karim Mohammed, Ali Eid and Husain Zuhair contributed eight points each.
Qatar's main scorers were Faisal Nabeel (14) and Ruslan Rashid (11).
This was Bahrain's third straight victory in the tournament. They had earlier defeated Saudi Arabia and UAE. They top the table with Kuwait on six points.
In the first game, Kuwait were equally emphatic in beating Saudi Arabia 66-48 for their third straight win.
Kuwait also dominated three of the four quarters 13-8 (Kuwait), 15-6 (Kuwait), 16-16, 22-18 (Kuwait).
Kuwait's best scorers were Musad Rashid and Yousif Abdulla (12 points each) while Mohammed Adnan contributed 10. Saudi Arabia's best scorers were Mohammed Najy and Musab Tariq (10 points each).
In today's games, Kuwait will take on Qatar in the first match at 4pm, followed by a match between UAE and Saudi Arabia to be played at 6pm, and the third and last match of the day will be between Bahrain and Oman to be played at 8pm.
