Two goals either side of halftime secured a 4-1 victory for Al Sadd against Al Khor in gameweek 10 to ensure the former maintained their place atop Qatar Stars League.
Brazilian midfielder scored twice in the 12th and 69th minutes while Abdelkarim Hassan and Ali Assadalla scored the other goals for the hosts in the game that was held at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium. The win takes Al Sadd's tally to 26 points while Al Khor remained ninth on 11 points.
In another game, Qatar SC and Al Kharaitiyat shared the spoils as they played out a 1-1 draw at Al Khor Stadium, taking Qatar SC's tally to 16 points and Al Kharaitiyat's to 10.
Ali Awad put Qatar SC ahead in the first minute of the encounter but Waleed Jassem made sure Al Kharaitiyat got something of the game scoring the equalizer in the 42nd minute. The two sides had many attempts on the goal in the second half but none of them were successful.
Elsewhere, Al-Sailiya leapfrogged Al Wakrah to 11th place following a thrilling 4-3 win at Al Wakrah's Saoud bin Abdulrahman Stadium. The victory means Al-Sailiya takes Al Wakrah's place on eight points while the latter drop to 12th place.
The seven-goal thriller saw five goals in the first half with Ricardo Costa opening the score sheet in the fourth minute by putting Al-Sailiya ahead but the response came three minutes later through Sebastian Saez.
It took Al-Sailiya only six minutes to reclaim the lead as Abdulrahman Al Harazi scored in the 13th minute. Faouzi Aaish extended the lead on 24" scoring from the spot, but Al Wakrah's pressing culminated in a goal in the last minute of the first half through Younes Hawassi to go into halftime with a 3-2 score line in favor of the guests.
The excitement continued in the second half with a series of chances for both sides. Mohammed Salah capitalized on a blunder from Al Wakrah's keeper Mohammed Enyas chipping the ball above his reach to open a two-goal lead for Al-Sailiya but Hawassi pulled one back for Al Wakrah in the 61st minute but both sides failed to add to their tally after that until fulltime.
