Al Sadd and Al Araby played out a 1-1 draw Friday as the two sides faced off in the fifth matchday of the Qatar Stars League.
Aden Ali put hosts Al Araby ahead 30 minutes into the game before Al Sadd's left back Abdulkarim Hassan headed home for the visitors on 43 minutes. The draw means Al Sadd lost two precious points in the race to top with leaders Lekhwiya, settling for the second spot with 13 points.
On the other hand, Al Araby took their tally to seven points in Sixth place ahead of Al Ahly on goal difference as the latter crashed to a second consecutive loss that came at the hands of El Jaish who themselves are fourth ahead of Qatar SC on goal difference.
Earlier in the day, title holders Lekhwiya opened a two-point gap top of the league as they cruised to a 2-0 win against Al Shamal to take their tally to 15 points, two ahead of Al Sadd, while Al Shamal remained unmoved in 13th place.
Meanwhile, Al Kharaitiyat tasted their first victory of the season thanks to a 1-0 win at the expense of Umm Salal to leapfrog them to tenth place with five points as the losing side sat in 11th with four.
