DUBAI - Arabstoday

Al Wasl Football Company confirms the signing of Chilean international Edson Puch to a four-year contract. The agreement came after long negotiations that lasted 10 weeks due to competition from other clubs wanting to sign him up. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder is known for his playmaking skills and creativity in midfield in addition to his goal-scoring abilities. The "Young Star" as he was nicknamed by fans of Universidad de Chile, scored for goals for his former club that are currently placed second in the Chilean Primera Division. Puch's transfer to Al Wasl was met with dissent in a number of Chilean websites. Puch is the first Chilean player to sign an endorsement deal with American sports wear giant Nike and is expected to be next year's UAE football league surprise. Details of the signing of and the value of the contract will be revealed in a press conference to be called by Al Wasl Football Company.
