Bahrain yesterday added five more medals to their tally in the 12th Arab Games in Doha. The nationals continued to impress on the 11th day of the Games, winning one gold, one silver and three bronze in three different disciplines, this was published at GDN. They are now eighth overall among 18 countries with 34 medals in total, including nine gold, 10 silver and 15 bronze. Prominent sailor Abdulrahim Abdulla won Bahrain's only gold medal yesterday after dominating the men's Laser class. The 21-year-old Bahraini completed the 12th and final race with 12 net points. Behind him were Tunisia's Zine Khairat and Riyadh Djemai, both on 26 points, who bagged second and third places overall, respectively. Sami Al Kooheji, Bahrain's other representative in this class, missed podium by finishing fourth with 34 points. Abdulla Janahi also ended his participation in the Radial Open Laser class where he came sixth overall among 11 sailors. The remaining three medals were won in athletics events as Genzeb Shumi bagged the women's 800m silver in two minutes and 2.42 seconds. Shumi was just five seconds behind gold medallist Malika Akkoui of Morocco. Shitaye Eshete then gave Bahrain the women's 5,000m bronze, clocking 16 minutes and 15.26 seconds. UAE's Alia Saeed (16:11.54) and compatriot Betlhem Belayneh (16:12.71) were first and second, respectively. In the discus throw, Bahrain's Basma Abdoh took another bronze medal after coming third in the final. The 19-year-old's best attempt was 31.05 metres. Egypt's Elham Wahba (46.88) and her compatriot Sara Dardiri (46.75) bagged the gold and silver medals, respectively. Bahrain's other bronze medal of the day was won by the shooting team of Samah Hejres, Fatima Haider and Hulood Burashaid in the women's skeet event. The team, who scored 150 total points, finished behind gold medal winners Kuwait (176 points) and runners-up Qatar (168). Bahrain came close for another podium, only to claim fourth place in the men's team time-trial cycling race at Lusail Cycling Circuit. Comprising Mansoor Mohammed, Taha Sayed Alawi, Sayed Ahmed Khalil and Ali Hassan, Bahrain completed the race in one hour, 28 minutes and 6.01 seconds. Mococco (1:26:31.66) bagged the gold, Tunisia (1:26:45.00) came second, while Algeria (1:26:52.81) rounded off the podium
