Tunisia coach Sami Trabelsi has resigned after his side failed to progress from the group stages of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations. The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) today accepted the 45-year-old's request to have his contract terminated and subsequently published a shortlist of three possible successors. A statement on the federation's official website read: "The FTF acknowledges the request of coach Sami Trabelsi for an amicable termination of his contract and agrees to the termination accordingly." The FTF said a decision would be reached on Trabelsi's replacement after three candidates had been interviewed. The statement continued: "After a discussion and exchange of views the following coaches are under consideration to manage the national team: Khaled Ben Yahia, Nabil Maaloul and Maher Kenzari." Tunisia beat north African rivals Algeria 1-0 in the Group D opener but a 3-0 defeat to Ivory Coast and a 1-1 draw with Togo denied them a place in the last eight. Trabelsi led the Eagles of Carthage to the quarter-final stage during last year's tournament in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, where they were knocked out by Ghana. From FIFA
