Cologne have completed the signing of Korea DPR international Jong Tae-Se from German second division side Bochum for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old will help fill the gap left by an injury to Lukas Podolski, who has been ruled out for at least a month with ankle ligament damage. Jong, who earned fame during the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ with his tears prior to Korea DPR's debut in the finals, as well as his part in an historic goal against Brazil, could make his Bundesliga debut in Cologne's trip to Kaiserslautern on Sunday. "Jong Tae-Se is precisely the kind of player we were looking for," said Cologne's director of sport Volker Finke on his club's website. "He is extremely strong in the air and has a good goalscoring instinct. "We are pleased that we have been able to agree a transfer of Jong Tae-se from Bochum and that we have been able to gain additional quality for our attack. We have been watching the player for a long time and we are convinced of his qualities as a striker." Jong moved to Bochum in 2010 from Japanese club Kawasaki Frontale. He has scored 14 goals in the German second division, including four this season.
