Arsenal winger Vela joins Real Sociedad on loan

Real Sociedad confirmed Tuesday that Arsenal winger Carlos Vela will be their first new signing ahead of the new season, joining the Spanish Primera Liga side on a one-year loan. "Real Sociedad have reached an agreement in principle with Arsenal that will see Carlos Vela join on loan for one season," said the Basque club at its website. "The deal depends on Carlos Vela passing a medical tomorrow (Wednesday) in San Sebastian." Vela, 22, a member of Mexican squad at last year's World Cup, joined Arsenal in 2005 and has spent long spells away on loan, including sojourns with Spanish sides Salamanca and Osasuna.
