Munich - Arab Today

Carlo Ancelotti has said Real Madrid must get off to a confident start at Bayern Munich in Tuesday's Champions League semi-final, second leg, in their quest for a historic win. Real are attempting to claim an historic first win in Munich at the tenth attempt, after eight defeats and a draw, but Madrid hold a 1-0 lead from last Wednesday's first-leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. While Bayern are bidding to reach their third straight final, Real are desperate to lift the Champions League trophy for the first time since 2002 as they chase their tenth European title. "We started too timidly in the first leg, if we do the same tomorrow, it will be very dangerous," warned Real manager Ancelotti. "We need to start stronger and must make a big effort. "We will need maximum effort from everyone in order to reach the final. "The system we will play is not important, but the work aspect will be. "We will see two teams with different philosophies because of the players available to them." added the Italian. Given Real's poor record in Germany with just two wins in 27 European matches against Bundesliga opposition, Ancelotti said nothing is decided despite his side's slender lead. But Ancelotti is set to field his full-strength attack with Gareth Bale back after suffering with flu last week alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, who has recovered from a hamstring injury, and Karim Benzema. "We know it's going to be very difficult. We are playing against a great team with a small advantage, so we are not that stupid as to think we have already qualified," he said. "It is true that we have athletes of the highest calibre, we are physically very strong. "I actually think the mental side of things will be more important." Source: AFP
