Local development expert Hamdy Arafa
Cairo - Seham Ahmed

Local development expert Hamdy Arafa criticized the performance of Sherif Ismail's government, saying that it has not taken any serious steps to contain the slums crisis. He signaled that Egypt has over 3600 slum areas and 1.5 million citizens still live in the tombs.

He added that the major dilemma is the governmental trend not to announce the facts and the absence of coordination between the cabinet's members. He stressed that the government had no clear strategy or a political vision to resolve this problem.

He also talked about his meeting with Egypt's Minister of civilization development Laila Alexander, saying that she was depending on statistics from over 10 years.

He added that the slums exist in all over the world, including the developed states like the US, France and Emirates, while theses countries can deal with the problem well.

Regarding the performance of Egypt's Minister of Local Development, he said that he came to the power for electoral objectives, saying that he has no powers
