Ambassador Khaled Youssri
Cairo - Akram Ali

Egypt’s Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Ambassador Khaled Youssri denied the issuance of formal decisions from any foreign country to deport the Egyptian labors during the recent period, describing what was published in this regard as media Perspectives.
However, he said, there are legal measures taken by a number of countries to limit the increasing numbers of foreign labors to confront the economic crises that came as the result of the big drop of oil prices and their need to rationalize the prices.
The Egyptian diplomat added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, that he conducted a number of visit to the Gulf states to resolve the problems of Egyptian labors working there, saying that he conducted a dialogue with them over the challenges they face. He added that he called them for taking the necessary measures to legalize their status.
Regarding the challenges facing the Egyptians abroad, he said, “The Sponsor case is the major issue that facing the Egyptians working in the Gulf States. He added that there are other problems related to their sons who stay in these countries in violations to their internal laws.” He signaled that a large number of Egyptians working abroad do not realize the laws of the countries in which they live, saying that it is one the main challenges that the Foreign Ministry faces.
He pointed out that the Foreign Ministry’s Consular Affairs department issues rotating warnings to the Egyptian citizens living abroad to commit to the rules and laws of the countries in which they live and work not to commit any violations leading the local authorities to deport them.
He stressed that the Foreign Ministry exerted increasing efforts during the recent period to develop the department and to provide it with the necessary tools to deal with any rapid developments. He added that the department will witness notable developments during the coming period to resolve the Egyptians’ problems abroad as soon as possible.
He added that Egypt’s diplomatic institution follows the investigations conducted currently by the French authorities with the Egyptian citizen accused of attacking Louvre Museum. He added that the Egyptian Consulate is authorized to follow the investigations conducted with him.
Regarding the number of Egyptians existed in Libya, Yemen and Syria, the Egyptian diplomat said that it is difficult to give accurate numbers due to the absence of Egypt’s diplomatic missions in the areas of conflict. He praised the efforts exerted by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry to evacuate the Egyptians living in these countries as soon as possible and to secure those Egyptians who want to return to their countries.
