Islam is not in war with the US or any country but Muslims suffer from double standards when dealing with issues related to them and to Arabs, Ibrahim Negm, Senior adviser to the Mufti, said.
The war against terrorism requires real international support and action, Negm told "US News" on the sidelines of his participation in the recent anti-terrorism conference that was organized by the White House in Washington.
He stressed that terrorists and extremists have nothing to do with Islam and have adopted distorted and perverted interpretations.
Al Azhar and its institutions are working strenuously to show the real image of Islam and Muslims that has been distorted by terrorists, he said.
