Chairperson of Aqsa Institution for Heritage Zaki Mohamed Aghbarieh says that the Israeli occupation forces have no right to interfere in the affairs of Aqsa Mosque or the maintenance or renovation works being carried out. Speaking to Arabstoday, Aghbarieh reiterated his institution's support for Aqsa Mosque and Islamic Circle of Awqaf against the Israeli media. He claimed that maintaining and renovating the mosque is a right only belonging to Muslims, adding that Israeli attempts to besiege Aqsa Mosque would fail. He accused the Israeli media of launching an incitement campaign against Aqsa Mosque after members of an "extremist Israeli group" published a report claiming that the mosque is home to a number of Jewish monuments. Aghbarieh said that reports saying Islamic Circle of Awqaf could destroy the Jewish monuments if they renovated the mosque are untrue.
