US embassy condemns Helwan attack
Cairo - Arab Today

The US embassy in Cairo strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Helwan that killed several policemen.

“We offer our sympathies to the families and friends of the victims. The US continues to stand with the Egyptian government and people in confronting terrorism,” it said in a press release.

Eight policemen were shot dead by masked gunmen in Helwan early on Sunday.

The victims were traveling in a white mini-bus when gunmen dismounted from a pick-up truck, stopped the unmarked police vehicle and opened fire.

The policemen, who were in plain clothes, were on their way to take part in the arrest of some criminals.
