The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned Sunday’s terrorist attack, which targeted the Saint Mark's Coptic Cathedral in the Abbasiya district in the Egyptian capital Cairo.
The blast killed scores of innocent people.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, emphasised that the leadership, government and people of the UAE stand with Egypt in its fight against all forms of terrorism.
''The UAE expresses its vehement condemnation of these criminal acts and voices its principled and constant rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism, and confirms its support for the Egyptian leadership in whatever decisive steps and measures it may take to stem terrorism and preserve its security and stability,'' said HH Sheikh Abdullah, in a statement today.
''These cowardly terrorist acts will never undermine the resolve of the Egyptian people and its persistence to continue its steadfast confrontation against terrorism, which neither knows country nor religion or ethics,'' HH said, affirming that these terrorist acts contravene all humanitarian and religious values and principles.
''Such criminal acts require unity of ranks to foil black, terrorist plots which aim to disturb Egypt's deeply grounded national unity,'' HH added.
Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the condolences of the UAE to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Egypt.
He also wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured.
