Egypt on Tuesday condoled with China over the victims of the ill-fated Chinese ship which sank Monday night in the Hubei section of China's Yangtze River, the Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Aatti said in a statement Tuesday.
Abel Aatti wished those injured a speedy recovery.
The ship, named Dongfangzhixing, or Eastern Star, sank after being caught in a cyclone in the Jianli section in Hubei Province of the Yangtze River.
The captain and the chief engineer, who have been rescued, both claimed the ship sank quickly after being caught in a cyclone.
The ship - carrying 458 passengers - was heading from Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, to southwest China's Chongqing city.
