Leaders of Arab countries have condemned the tragic mass shooting in the city of Orlando, Florida.

In a statement, spokesman for Egypt's Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zaid offered the Egyptian government's and people's condolences to the U.S. government and people, wishing speedy recovery to the injured of the "hideous attack."

He expressed Egypt's solidarity with the U.S. authorities and people.

The spokesman renewed Egypt's condemnation to all kinds of terror and violence, calling for an overall confrontation and an international solidarity to put an end to the phenomenon of terrorism worldwide.

Also on Monday, Arab League Secretary General Nabil al-Araby condemned the fatal shooting at the Florida nightclub.

In a statement, al-Araby stressed the need of rallying international efforts to combat terrorism and confront attempts to ignite violence and hatred.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry offered its condolences to the American people in a statement on late Sunday.

Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Simsek said in his tweeter account that "I condemn, unequivocally, the horrific terrorist attack in Orlando, as we've seen time and time again, terrorism knows no religion, creed or race."

In a statement released by Emirati state news agency WAM, the United Arab Emirates' (UAE) Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced its solidarity with the United States, reiterating its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

The statement also reiterated the ministry's firm stance on the need for concerted efforts of the international community to eliminate the scourge of terrorism which is against all ethical and human values.

Authorities said 50 people were killed and 53 others wounded early Sunday in a mass shooting at a popular gay nightclub in Orlando, in the southeastern U.S. state of Florida.

It was the deadliest terror attack in U.S. history since the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility.
