Aden - Abdel Aziz El Ma’aris

The former Yemeni minister of education “Abdel Hafiz Noaman” told “Arab Today” that the “Yehia El-Houthi” the current Yemeni minister of Education is not qualified for his position,  adding that the last lacks the simplest Academic standards to fulfill his tasks.

Noaman warned that the education in Yemen is vulnerable to the polarization status in the country, the thing that will destroy any attempts to build a modern state, adding that bad education will produce generation that can only fight, asserting that the authority lacks any care for the educational process in Yemen.

Noaman said that the educational process in Yemen is still traditional depending on the historic events estimated from the folklore and the opinions of the religious men, adding that education did not evolve into a modern free from the classical effects.

As a former education minister I can say that all the previous governments, the upcoming governments for that matter, did not care for education, despite the fact that everyone knows the importance of education, especially the vocational one, said Noaman.

He added that the lack of the cultural elites addressing the education problem, beside the civil war and the fighting over power are all factors aiding the deterioration of education, asserting that students are leaving schools to join the war as it is more profitable in a country suffering from poverty.

Noaman said that the aides sent from international organizations and neighboring countries to enhance the education in Yemen, are being taken for other topics such as arms and recruit.
