Seoul’s Incheon International Airport has been named the best airport in the world when it comes to customer service.
In a poll that surveyed 550,000 travelers at more than 300 airports around the world, South Korea’s biggest hub scored the highest marks for passenger satisfaction.
Conducted by the Airports Council International, based in Montreal, the Airport Service Quality Awards (ASQ) asked flyers to rate airports across 34 criteria that include access, check-in, security, airport facilities, dining and retail.
“Airports are more than simply points of departure and arrival,” said ACI director general Angela Gittens in a statement.
“They are complex businesses in their own right. As such, a focus on serving the passenger has become increasingly important to ensuring success.”
Seoul is no stranger to airport awards, alternating with rival Singapore Changi Airport in nabbing the title of world's best airport from Skytrax.
In the last edition, Incheon took second place.
Likewise, Changi Airport is second only to Incheon in the ASQ awards.
It’s the latest list to try and rank the best airports around the world.
A similar survey carried out by The Guide to Sleeping in Airports also asked travelers to rate airports based on factors such as comfort, convenience, cleanliness and customer service.
Not surprisingly, that list was topped by Singapore’s Changi Airport and was again followed closely by Seoul Incheon International Airport.
And according to the OAG Punctuality League’s 2014 report, the airport most likely to get flyers to their destination on time is Munich Airport.
