Tour de France peloton takes the high road London - Arab Today The biggest bike race on Earth is coming to London, where fans will be able to follow the Tour de France on giant screens, check out the latest in bike gear and meet cycling celebrities at a pop-up fan park. The inaugural Tour de France Fan Park takes over Wood Wharf at London's Canary Wharf beginning July 15, as the most elite cycling race enters the final Alpine stages of the epic bike ride. The pop-up is being built in part to fete the Tour's 100th anniversary and to cheer for this year's odds-on favourite winner, British rider Christopher Froome. But the park also looks forward to 2014 when the first two stages of the race will tour through the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Between 11am and 10pm, fans will be able to enter the park, with live broadcasts of the Tour on 40-metre screens starting at 2pm every day, and a recap of highlights at 7pm. On-site guest commentators will offer additional insight into the race developments. The village will also feature interactive cycling activities, cafés, bars and cycling demos. For Tour aficionados and hardcore fans, the village will feature a photo exhibit while regional French products will be showcased alongside Yorkshire specialties in a nod to next year's race. On July 18, the village will also announce the winners of a prize draw that will send two people to the Champs-Elysées in Paris to watch the peloton on the last legs of their cross-country journey. The Tour de France Fan Park opens July 15 and closes July 21. Source: AFP
