Head of the Iraqi National Alliance Ibrahim Jaafari
Baghdad – Jaafar Nassrawi
Head of the Iraqi National Alliance Ibrahim Jaafari on Friday slammed the Arab League's treatment of the Syrian crisis and reiterated Iraq's stance on Middle Eastern issues
.
He said: “Iraq did not reject the Arab consensus, as some have stated, but has rejected the Arab League’s shocking and sudden decision concerning Syria.”
Jaafari said in an exclusive statement to ‘Arabstoday’: “The Arab League’s stance on Iraq is sudden, and any strike against it (Syria) or Iran, will have a negative impact on Iraq.”
He added that the Syrian crisis was different than the events in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, and Yemen, explaining that “there were mistakes committed by the Syrian government and a segment of citizens are dissatisfied, and we are not against that, but we do not want Syria to be blinded by chaos and to suffer what Iraq had to suffer.”
Jaafari also said: “Iraq does not want the Arab League to be politicised for regional agendas, and any party betting on influencing the decisions of the Arab League, using arms or money or threats to cut-off political and economic relations, should be led out of the Arab League, for we are against this.”
