Germany Thursday said it had detained an extreme-left Turkish militant suspected of helping raise funds for the DHKP-C, listed as a terrorist organisation by Turkey and the European Union. The 37-year-old man, identified as Erol G., was arrested Wednesday by police in the western city of Cologne and remanded in custody Thursday, the federal prosecutor's office said in a statement. The man is accused of helping raise funds in Germany for the organisation and to have been responsible for the distribution of propaganda material. The outlawed Marxist-Leninist DHKP-C, founded in 1994, is responsible for numerous attacks against Turkish authorities.
