Hyderabad - QNA

At least 15 people were killed and 25 others were injured in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district when a passenger train collided with a stationary goods train early Tuesday. The accident took place when the Hubli-Bangalore Hampi Express hit the stationary goods train at Penukonda railway station, about 400 km from here. The death toll in the accident is likely to rise further as many passengers are still feared trapped inside the damaged coaches, according to the (Times of India). "The reason of the accident is yet to be ascertained but prima facie it seems that the driver of the Hampi Express overshot the signal," a railway official said. Such was the impact of the collision that four bogies derailed and one of them even caught fire. local police, fire-fighting and railway personnel rushed to the spot and began rescue and relief operations.
