Egyptian Squash player Ali Faraj expressed his happiness after winning the American Open Squash Championship for the first time in his history after beating fellow Mohammed Al Shorbagi, the world number two.
He added that winning the championship against a strong competitor like Mohammed Al-Shorbagi was a surprise for him, while the biggest surprise was to win the championship in coincidence with his wife’s winning of the same championship for women during the same day.
He stressed, “My matches against Mohamed Al-Shorbagi are always equal before this match. We met 8 times and we shared four wins for each of us, but there is mutual respect between us. It is honor to be with him in such a final match.”
He expressed his appreciation for the role that his wife plays to push him forward since the beginning of their life together, saying that she is a professional player in the same game so she understands how to support him in his career as a player.
