The US military and partner nation military forces continued to attack Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), totaling 35 airstrikes between November 12-14, US Central Command (CENTCOM), announced Friday.
Using a mixture of bomber, fighter and remotely-piloted aircrafts, 17 airstrikes were conducted in Syria near Kobani, which struck 10 ISIL units, destroyed 10 fighting positions, an ISIL building, two vehicles and a motorcycle, added CENTCOM in a press release.
An airstrike east of (Ar Raqqah) destroyed a training camp while another east of Dayr Az Zawr destroyed an ISIL oil collection point, it added.
Finally, in northwest Syria west of Aleppo, a US airstrike "stuck terrorists associated with a network of veteran Al Qaeda operatives, sometimes called the (Khorasan Group), who are plotting external attacks against the US and our allies." In Iraq, airstrikes south of Kirkuk struck four small ISIL units and a vehicle, while another two strikes west of Kirkuk struck another two units, destroyed a heavy machine gun, an ISIL weapon bunker, and a vehicle, said CENTCOM.
Another airstrike west of Taji destroyed three vehicles, while two airstrikes near Ar Rutbah destroyed 13 ISIL vehicles and two excavators.
Three airstrikes near Bayji struck two small units and destroyed one vehicle and an airstrike near Fallujah struck a large ISIL unit.
Finally in Iraq, one airstrike east of Mosul destroyed a small ISIL unit.
All aircraft returned to base safely and those assessments are based on initial reports, added CENTCOM.
"The destruction of ISIL targets in Syria and Iraq further limits the terrorist group's ability to project power and conduct operations," emphasized the statement, adding that coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Iraq include US, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Netherlands and the UK.
While in Syria coalition include US, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, concluded the statement from CENTCOM.
