The political directors from Germany, Russia, France, and Ukraine will meet in Paris on March 25 to discuss the current situation in Ukraine, a French Foreign Ministry spokesman said Monday.
“As the [French] president has announced, the Minsk agreements have ‘partially come to life,’ and now is the best time for all the parties to measure them, voluntarily and unbiased,” Sputnik news agency quoted Romain Nadal as saying during a briefing in Paris.
He said that meetings continue in the so-called Normandy format and “a meeting of political directors was planned in Paris on Wednesday.”
In February, the Normandy Four group comprising the presidents of Russia, Ukraine, France and the Chancellor of Germany agreed on a set of measures aimed at stopping the military confrontation in Ukraine’s southeast, which claimed over 6,000 lives since April 2014.
The measures, among other points, stipulated a ceasefire that came into force in eastern Ukraine on February 15.
An "all-for-all" prisoner exchange, granting special status to Ukraine's southeast regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, and constitutional reforms were also among the 13 points of the Minsk agreements.
