Yangon - QNA

Myanmar says it will abide by a UN Resolution which bans arms trade with North Korea. A senior South Korean government official said that during summit talks with President Lee Myung-bak in Naypidaw on Monday, Myanmar's President Thein Sein revealed that his government would abide by UN Resolution 1874 which bans countries from engaging in any type of arms trade with North Korea, according to (KBS World). His remark suggests that Myanmar, which imports weapons from the North, will halt military exchanges with the communist state. Sein added that he will allow a North Korean escapee to come to South Korea who is currently in a Myanmar prison for illegal entry. The Myanmar president requested that South Korea participate in his nation's five-year economic development plan and lead a project to redevelop the former capital city of Yangon. Lee arrived in Naypidaw on Monday to become the first South Korean leader to visit the Southeast Asian nation in 29 years.
