Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Friday made a telephone call with US Secretary of State John Kerry on the just concluded Iranian nuclear talks, the Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
In the phone call, Wang said the important agreement reached in the latest round of Iranian nuclear talks attended by top diplomats of Iran and the P5+1 countries, namely the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany, is attributed to all sides seizing the historic opportunity through concerted efforts.
China and the United States, both taking on major responsibilities in safeguarding the international nuclear non-proliferation system, maintained good contact with each other during the negotiations, while instilling "positive energy" into bilateral relations, Wang said.
In a bid to finalize a comprehensive deal as scheduled, China will maintain close coordination with all parties concerned including the United States and continue to play a constructive role during the process, Wang said.
Kerry said that the US side appreciates China's important and constructive role in the new round of nuclear talks.
As a result of cooperation by all sides, breakthrough has been achieved in the Iranian nuclear talks, which meets expectation by the International community, Kerry recalled.
He said that the United States hopes to further strengthen cooperation with all parties including China so as to eventually complete the Iranian nuclear talks.
Top negotiators from Iran and the P5+1 group on Thursday concluded the nine-day Iran nuclear talks in the Swiss city of Lausanne and reached common solutions to outstanding issues in a run for a comprehensive deal by June 30.
