The GCC region is willing to further develop economic, commercial, and investment ties with China, said a Gulf official Friday.
This statement came during a meeting between the GCC delegation, headed by Advisor Mohammad Al-Mutairi, and representatives of Chinese government.
Al-Muatiri said that the meeting discussed the upcoming dialogue between friends on the Silk Road gathering next Tuesday which aims at developing economic ties between China and the GCC.
He indicated that both sides were willing to further bolster economic and commercial relations in the future, noting that commercial exchange between the GCC and China had reached USD 175 billion in 2013 after being at USD nine billion in 2002.
This huge leap in commercial exchange was due to China's ever-growing need for energy supplies in which the GCC region was gladly providing, said Al-Mutairi.
