Cairo - Nancy Abdul Monim

Egyptian singer and actress Sherine is delighted with her return to the small screen after a cameo appearance in Adel Iman's al-Araf (The Godfather). Speaking to Arab Today, Cairo-born performer thanked Adel, and series director Rami Imam for giving her the opportunity. Sherine disclosed that although she only plays a small part in the drama, it is an important role and something new for her. "I don't like to speak about my work, and prefer to let fans judge my performance. However, I think this is a new character for me and something completely different to my previous work," she explained. Sherine claimed that broadening her horizons is like a double-edged sword, because some fans may not like what they see. Speaking about comedian Adel Imam, Sherine said: "He is among the best in Egypt, in terms of what he does and love for his fans. He leads the way. "I think there is a chemistry between us, that makes me understand what he is looking for," she added. The performer, who is married to music composer Mohammad Mustafa, said that she consulted Egyptian stylist Malik Zoul Fakkar about her new look, to make sure her character comes across as authoritative on screen. "I know that I'm very demanding, but I have to be careful, and always want to make sure that everything is good. Most people who have worked with me in the past know what I'm like on set," she said. Sherine said she was drawn to al-Araf because of the important issues it highlights  especially regarding the social classes and the relationship between parents and their children. "Some parents don't know anything about their children apart their names, and we were able to reflect this in al-Araf," the Egyptian actress explained. Sherine also commented on her latest project, Qanoun Sosska, in which she is working alongside Soheir el Bably. "I really like the story of Qanoun Sosska, and the opportunity of working with Soheir was something I couldn't turn down. "In fact, I know that Soheir selected me for the role. besides working with Ezzat el-Alaily is also a good friend of mine," Sherin added. The actress said she is looking forward to watching al-Araf in Ramadan, and is also excited about seeing her daughter Meret in el-Ragoul el-Enab.
