Egyptian singer, Ehab Tawfik, has confirmed that his new album will feature music industry heavyweights such as Hani Abdel Latif and Bahaa al Din Muhammad. He told Arabstoday that he is currently working on a album whichwill include collaborations with “new composers and writers”, as well as other artists like “Muhammad Yahya, and Ashraf Salem ." Tawfik also revealed to Arabstoday that his latest album has taken a “long time to complete” due to his busy schedule and constant travelling. He said he began work on it in January last year, and is only just coming close to wrapping it up. “We started work on the album early last year. It took so long to finish because I’ve been busy with travelling,” said Tawfik. In the past, Tawfik was well known for his “mini albums”, a record consisting of only two or three songs. He recently announced he will be releasing another one of these records, which he says are more suitable considering his prominent absence from the Egyptian music scene. He also welcomed the idea of recording a duet, after his famous collaboration with the late Tunisia singer Zikra, proved incredibly popular. Despite persistent rumours of an affair between Tawfik and the then married Zikra, Tawfik insists that the duet was a great experience. He told Arabstoday that he “really misses” the deceased singer, who was shot dead by her husband in 2003. “I don’t care about the rumours as I have never had anything to hide from the Egyptian public,” he said.
