An 8-year-old boy left alone in a park near a Hatta mosque was abducted and sexually molested by a construction worker, the Dubai Criminal Court heard today. Prosecutors said that SG, 55, spotted the Egyptian child at the park on November 8 and beckoned him. He then grabbed the boy's hand and dragged him to the back of the park. He then hugged the boy and touched him inappropriately before grabbing the child's hand and forcing him to touch himself. Afterwards the boy went to sit on a staircase adjacent to the mosque and waited for his father to arrive, prosecutors said. The construction worker followed the boy, sat next to him, and tried to start a conversation, but the boy turned his back to the man and refused to talk to him. The construction worker then left and a few minutes later the boy's father arrived to pick him up. The boy then told his father who reported the incident. SG, who did not appear in court, was charged with kidnap and sexual assault. The case was adjourned to June 20. By The National
