Dubai - Arabstoday

A court Tuesday dropped a case against a salesman, who was charged with attempting to kill his friend with a kitchen knife. The Dubai Court of First Instance dropped the case against the 23-year-old Pakistani salesman, M.N., after he obtained a written waiver from his 25-year-old carpenter, K.A., also from Pakistan. "The case has been dropped against M.N. after he reconciled with the claimant," said Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout in courtroom four. According to the charges, prosecutors said M.N. tried to murder K.A. by stabbing him at the back of his right shoulder. When the suspect appeared in court, he pleaded not guilty and contended that he didn't have any criminal intention. Swift medical intervention helped save K.A.'s life. The carpenter testified that the incident happened while they were fishing at Dubai Creek, facing the British Embassy. "He called me and asked me to sit beside him… but I refused and tried to avoid him. When I tried to run away he took out a knife and stabbed me in my shoulder because of our financial dispute," K.A. told prosecutors. An Emirati police officer, who questioned the suspect, testified: "M.N. alleged to me that a financial dispute happened between them… so he stabbed the claimant with a knife. Then he got rid of the knife by throwing it in the creek. Thereafter he drove the victim to hospital." From / Gulf News
