A Swedish delegation has commended the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), in ensuring the rights of mothers and children, in the United Arab Emirates and abroad.

This came during a meeting with Rym Abdulla Al Falasy, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, at the Council's headquarters in Abu Dhabi, where they discussed the agenda of Global Child Forum, initiated by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, which is scheduled to be held in April 2018 in Stockholm.

Al Falasy mentioned that the Swedish delegation, who includes Ulrika Nilsson - Managing Director, Global Child Forum and Eva Gluckman - Partnership Manager, Global Child Forum, extended an invitation to the Council to attend the Global Child Forum which will look through children's issues, collaborations between countries and exchange of ideas regarding means to support and protect children around the world, especially in regions of wars and natural disasters.

Al Falasy added that the Swedish delegation expressed their admiration for the great interest of the UAE government and H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak in the welfare of children, all efforts towards creating a suitable environment for their development and the support directed to mothers assisting them in raising their children.

The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood praised the efforts of Queen of Sweden towards the success of the Global Child Forum, since its instigation, in acquiring children’s wellbeing and providing them with educational and health services, her role in aiding children through several organizations that look after children and children’s rights chaired by Her Majesty, in addition to supporting various entities striving to assure the welfare of children and a violence-free childhood.

During the meeting, both parties discussed collaboration opportunities as well as the exchange of ideas and future visits in order to discover preeminent ways targeted at ensuring the rights of children.
