Interior Minister and Minister of Municipal Affairs Hussein Majali on Sunday checked on security arrangements ahead of municipal elections due to be held later this month. During a visit to the Public Security Department (PSD) where he met its director general, Gen. TawfiqTawalbeh, Majali said the PSD personnel have a key role in promoting democracy by ensuring justice, equality and human rights besides maintaining national security and stability. "This democratic exercise will be manifest in the upcoming municipal elections," he added, while praising the security forces for the ongoing campaigns across the country aimed at safeguarding the country's stability. Tawalbeh said the PSD had laid out "the necessary" plans for the polls, starting with securing the polling centres and following it right up to vote-counting arrangements and announcement of the final results.
