Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met here today with Iceland Foreign Minister S Nelson who is currently visiting the Palestinian territories. During the meetig the Palestinian President underlined the Palestinian leadership’s adherence to going to the United Nations in case the resumption of peace negotiations as a result of Israel’s rejection of the compliance with the peace process’ terms of reference and refusal to halt settlement building. President Abbas meanwhile briefed Iceland Foreign Minister on the latest developments in the region, and the contacts made by the Palestinian leadership with the various international parties to confirm its commitment to the peace process in accordance with clear terms of reference and bases. Palestinian News Agency (WAFA)/ Iceland Foreign Minister, in turn, underlined his country’s support to the Palestinian people and their right to gain freedom and independence.
