Cairo - Anadolu

Violence broke out in several Egyptian cities after the roadmap for the future of Egypt was announced by Defense Minister Abdel Fatah El Sisi which included announcing the head of the constitutional court as interim president. Loyalists of ousted president Mohamed Morsi opened fire in several areas of the city of Assiut in southern Egypt, according to an Anadolu Agency correspondent. They smashed the fronts of several shops and closed Al-Mahata Square, blocking traffic. Army and police forces fired tear gas to disperse the protesters, added AA correspondent. Sisi announced a roadmap for the future of Egypt which also included temporarily suspending the constitution, forming a coalition government of technocrats and holding early presidential election. In the city of Minya, some 245 km south of Cairo, Morsi loyalists set a bank and a hotel on fire, according to an AA correspondent. They also smashed a number of cars standing outside the courts complex in the city. In Aswan, a city in the south of Egypt, Morsi supporters blocked the Nile cornice and set a police car ablaze injuring one officer, according to an AA correspondent. Police forces are trying to disperse the protesters using tear gas, added AA correspondent. In the Alexandria neighborhood of Sidi Gaber, military and police forces intervened to end clashes between supporters and opponents of Morsi.
