The largest Christmas tree- with 22 meters height, base of 6 meters radius and 9200 bulbs- was lit up in Safita city, Tartous Province, on Saturday in honor of the martyrs of Syria. The tree was erected at the square of al-Sayyida Church. People of Safita also built up a 6 square meter Christmas Cave, made of old brown stones and covered with rock-like papers from inside. The event turned into a mass national festivity comprising a carnival and an artistic show titled 'St Barbara'. The event was attended by religious and popular figures in addition to the people of Safita and the neighboring towns.
