Kuwait's amir approved on Monday a decree designating Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as head of a new government, Kuwait's Kuna news agency reported. In the decree carried by Kuna, Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah directed Sheikh Jaber to name the members of the new cabinet and present to him their names for endorsement. Sheikh Jaber is also requested to apprise the newly-formed National Assembly (parliament) of the decree which takes immediate effect, Kuna said. The amir accepted on Sunday the resignation of the caretaker government led by Sheikh Jaber following the parliamentary election last week. Sheikh Jaber was appointed as the head of the caretaker cabinet in December after the previous cabinet resigned.
