As part of the preparation work for the second government workshop, which will focus on policies, legislation and enhancing government performance, government officials today led a coordination meeting at the Shaikh Isa Cultural Centre.
The meeting follows the 2017 Government Forum, during which His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, directed government officials to lead a series of workshops to identify key objectives for the upcoming Government Action Plan (2019 - 2022).
The 2017 Government Forum was held in October 2017 under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, and through the initiative of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince. The Forum outlined the government’s progress in implementing initiatives and programmes as part of the Government Action Plan (2015 – 2018).
Commenting on the outcomes of the meeting, Parliament Affairs Minister Ghanim bin Fadhl Al-Buainain highlighted that the Kingdom has been steadfast in advancing legislation and policies which reflect national interests. He went on to stress that justice, equality and rule of law remain the guiding principles of the nation’s development.
The minister confirmed that officials had reviewed recommendations submitted by government ministries and departments regarding measures to improve proposed legislation and regulations.
The final outcomes of the meeting will be issued to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs for approval, after which they will be discussed at the upcoming workshop taking place on January 28.
The Parliament Affairs Minister concluded by emphasising the role of workshops and coordination meetings in increasing efficiency across government, and stressed the government’s commitment to developing an action plan that protects the interests of Bahrain’s citizens and accelerates sustainable economic growth.
