The Government Communication ‎Office at the General ‎Secretariat of the Cabinet ‎at the ‎Ministry of the ‎‎Cabinet Affairs and Future reviewed the third Government Communication Strategy 2017-2021, recently approved by the UAE Cabinet, with more than 50 participants from federal ministries and entities as part of the Government Communication Network meeting.

The meeting, held at the Etihad Museum in Dubai, reviewed the government communication strategy, which includes a set of strategic objectives and national priorities to achieve optimal communication mechanisms and promote an integrated government communication system for federal entities.

"The third Government Communication Strategy affirms that government communication is an important component of work of the UAE Government work to increase efficiency and enhance the interaction with the UAE society," said Noaf Tahlak, ‎Executive ‎Director of the Government ‎Communication ‎Office at the ‎‎‎General ‎Secretariat of ‎the Cabinet to the ‎Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the ‎Future. ‎ "Government communication is also an important tool that contributes to reaching the UAE Vision 2021, and we aim to achieve the most innovative and influential government communication by employing the latest concepts and technologies and maximise the benefits of using social media platforms," she added.

Five objectives for government communication were identified until 2021, they include supporting the goals of the National Agenda and the UAE Vision 2021, enhancing communication coordination between the government and all sectors, leading an innovative and effective management of the government’s image on various communication platforms, instilling patriotic values, and enhancing ties with media outlets.

Priorities were also highlighted within each main objective, notably building up capabilities for future communication professionals, contribute to promote a message of tolerance and social cohesion and implement best practices in government communication.

The meeting included a tour of the Etihad Museum where participants reviewed photographs, films, documents and collectables that chronicle the history of the UAE union.
