The two-day Emirates Red Crescent’s 5th Summit for Psychological and Social Support for the Workers in the Humanitarian Field," began today at the InterContinental Dubai Festival City Hotel in Dubai.
The Summit will involve the attendance of leading academic experts, media professionals, scholars, cultured individuals and specialists in the areas of humanitarian and psychological support in the country, as well as the participation of several ERC employees and volunteers.
In his speech while launching the summit, Rashid Mubarak Al Mansouri, Deputy Secretary-General of Local Affairs at the ERC, said, "We are meeting today at the Summit which was organised by the ERC in Dubai for the fifth consecutive year."
He stressed that the ERC has achieved unprecedented successes in the field of local and international humanitarian and relief work, through its proactive humanitarian activities, its unprecedented presence in areas of crises, its rescue of victims from natural disasters and armed conflicts and its support for them, and its protection of human lives.
Al Mansouri added that the Summit will include discussions on social care, the effects of religious values in reducing psychological suffering, the psychological role of the media and social media on those affected, the role of national institutions in the psychological rehabilitation of people of determination, and the psychological needs of the survivors of crises and disasters. They will also discuss various treatments based on the severity of cases and the intensity of trauma, he further added.
