The marine resources at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning took legal measures against a dive centre for organizing unlicensed fishing and pearling trips. Marine Resources Acting Director Bassam Al-Showeikh said that the department had received a notification about the centre which organized unlicensed trips via social media websites and posts pictures online.
"Fishing and pearling is allowed at all maritime zones, except prohibited areas, under decree-law 20 of 2002, decree-law 45 of 2012 and edict 43 of 2017, on exploiting and protecting marine resources", he said. Al-Showeikh urged all fishing centres and seafarers to comply with the laws and regulations which aim at protecting public interests.
