Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdullatif Darian on Monday maintained that the fresh TV appearance of Prime Minister Saad Hariri was reassuring and that it disproved rumors over his sudden resignation from Saudi Arabia.
"The live interview with Prime Minister Saad Hariri from his second home, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reassured the Lebanese and gave hope about his nearing return to Lebanon," the Mufti told his visitors during the political he resumed today at Dar-al-Fatwa, to follow up on the current crisis.
"[The interview] also disproved all rumors and claims that have spread in Lebanon and the world; [Hariri] is among his family and brothers in Riyadh," he underlined.
The Mufti has met today with former president Michel Sleiman, who said that Hariri's return was necessary.
Darian later held talks with Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon, Cagatay Ercyes, over the current situation on the local scene, in addition to the Lebanese-Turkish bilateral ties.
Also, the Mufti received Indonesian Ambassador to Lebanon, Ahmad Chozin Chumaidy, who hoped the current crisis would end in the nearest time possible, wishing security, peace, and stability for Lebanon.
Darian has also met respectively with Head of Sidon municipal council Mohammad Saoudi, and Secretary General of the Higher Defense Council Major General Mohyiddine al-Hamad
